Luton- England: 20 February 2010-
A condolence meeting to pay respects to the memory of JKLF leader Zafar Sharif was held by the British Chapter of the JKLF under its Zonal president Haji Muhammad Rauf in Luton England.
Senior JKLF leaders paid rich tributes to late Zafar Sharif’s contribution to the freedom struggle. Professor Zafar Khan, Latif Malik, Ejaz Malik, Kaman Afsar, Khawaja, Abdul Latif, Qari Ajaib, Khan, Sayed Tehsin Gilani, Professor Liaqat Khan, Chaudhry Liaqat Ali, Sayed Azam Shah, Zulfiqar Ali and others spoken in glowing terms about Zafar Sharif’s dedication to the cause of Kashmir’s freedom and the welfare of the masses in Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion Professor Zafar Khan said that Zafar Sharif was a dedicated and committed member of the JKLF who loyally served the party since he joined it in 1986. He was a party man and immensely loyal to the leadership including the JKLF Supreme head Mr Amanullah Khan, and yet believed strongly in consensus both within the party and across the Kashmiri political spectrum. Zafar Khan praised his selfless devotion to the cause of freedom and said that his interaction with others was always determined by his sense of duty and service for the national cause.
Professor Zafar Khan, with whom late Zafar Sharif worked closely for over twenty years on Diplomatic affairs, said he will be greatly missed by the organisation and his colleagues, and termed his untimely demise as a great loss and a blow to the JKLF and the freedom struggle.
He said Zafar Sharif’s death has also left a vacuum in the charitable work that he had co-ordinated since the devastation of the October 2005 earthquake in Azad Kashmir.
He said that the most appropriate tribute to Zafar Sharif memory and his legacy would that the leadership and party workers alike follow and adopt his example of self less devotion and duty to the cause of freedom and justice for over 15 million people of divided Jammu Kashmir. Zafar Khan called him a very good human being who possessed strong belief in Allah and immense love for the Holly Prophet of Islam –Muhammad-PBUH.
Haji Muhammad Rauf thanked participants and announced that the JKLF will shortly organise a larger gathering in remembrance of late Zafar Sharif and to pay much deserved tribute to his contribution for the party and the national cause.
