Concede Right of Self-determination to the people of Jammu Kashmir State: APC


          The All Parties Committee for Kashmiri Peoples Right of Self-determination (APC), comprising 15 political parties of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan has said that the best, peaceful, equitable, democratic and permanent solution of Kashmir Issue was to concede Right of Self-determination to the people of Jammu Kashmir State as provided under UN Charter and under relevant UN resolutions and has warned that if attempts were made to impose upon 17 million people of the State any solution not based on their inherent, internationally recognized and pledged right of self-determination, such attempts would be resisted with full force. The Committee also declared that if attempts were made to permanently disintegrate the State politically, constitutionally and geographically, such attempts would also be foiled. The Committee decided to take concrete steps on national, regional and international level to re-project Kashmir Issue as an international issue concerning the inherent, internationally recognized and pledged right of self-determination of 17 million people of Jammu Kashmir State and to demolish the ill-conceived perception of it’s being a bilateral Issue or a territorial dispute between India and Pakistan, says a press release Issued by the APC.

          According to the Press Release the Working Committee of the All Parties Committee for Kashmiri Peoples Right of Self-determination (APC) met in Rawalpindi and was chaired by Mr Lateef Sani, Chairman Foreign Affairs Committee of Jammu Kashmir Liberation League (A member of APC Working Committee) and conducted by Mr. Amanullah Khan Convenor of the APC.

          The Working Committee took Stock of matters related to the right of self-determination of the people of Jammu Kashmir State and also of the attempts being made by different quarters to disintegrate the State for ever politically, constitutionally and geographically.

          After thorough discussion, the Working Committee re-iterated that the best, most equitable, peaceful and democratic solution of Kashmir Issue was to concede to the people of Jammu Kashmir State their right of self-determination as provided under UN Charter and under relevant UN Security Council and UNCIP resolutions. The Working Committee made it clear too that no solution of Kashmir Issue not based on the freely expressed will of over 17 million people of the entire Jammu Kashmir State as it existed on August 14-15, 1947 would be accepted and if attempts were made to impose a solution not based on the inherent, internationally recognized and pledged right of the people of the entire State, such attempts would be resisted with full force. The Committee also made it too clear that any attempt to permanently disintegrate Jammu Kashmir State politically, constitutionally and geographically would also be resisted with full force. The Working Committee decided to take concrete steps on national, regional and international level to re-project Kashmir Issue as an international Issue concerning the inherent, internationally recognized and pledged right of self determination of almost 17 million people of Jammu Kashmir State and to demolish the ill-conceived perception of it’s being a bilateral Issue or a territorial dispute between India and Pakistan.
