Leaders welcome Zafar Khan's appointment

Leaders of the London Chapter of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front- JKLF- have welcomed the decision by JKLF Chairman Mr Yasin Malik   to appoint Prof. Zafar Khan as ‘Head of Diplomatic Affairs’.

In a statement issued in London they said that Prof. Zafar Khan is a highly regarded academic, intellectual and respected charismatic figure within the Kashmiri Diaspora, as well across both sides of the LoC in Kashmir and that as a senior and experienced figure in the JKLF ranks his appointment by Mr Yasin Malik and the leadership is to be highly commended and it will add to the impetus in the struggle at the international level.

It might be noted that Prof Zafar Khan was since 1948, the first Kashmiri to address a UN body on specifically Kashmir issue which he did during an address at the UN sub commission on Human Rights in August 1990 at Geneva, calling on the world body to allow people of Jammu Kashmir the exercise of their inherent inalienable and unfettered right to self determination.

In the statement leaders of the JKLF's London chapter hoped that the movement for Kashmiri freedom will benefit from Prof Zafar Khan vast experience and diplomatic skills, to further the Issue at international level consistent with the rights, aspirations and wishes of 20 million Kashmiris.
