LONG MARCH UPDATE: March still Stopped at
Pak-Pattan Bridge
JKLF Long March has been stopped in Pak-Pattan bridge. Although some people managed to cross the bridge earlier in the evening but thousands of people are still stranded there.
The march started with about 18000 to 20000 people and at this moment there are about 3000 JKLF supporters that have begun a sit-in in the severe cold weather. This has resulted in a stand off between the protesters and the Pakistani Special Forces.
The Pakistani Special Forces from Islamabad have rushed to the scene on Pakpattan Bridge and are having deliberations with JKLF Leadership. Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, Assistant Commissioner and other high level officers are also on the scene.
JKLF leadership is determined to move towards Islamabad.
In the meantime, JKLF Supreme Head Amanullah Khan flanked by Secretary Information Toqeer Gilani, Manzoor Khan and addressed a crowded pres conference in Islamabad. He condemned the Pakistan Governments actions to curtail the long march.
JKLF activist in Rawalpindi are still demonstrating in front of Press Club and are waiting for the people to come from Azad Kashmir.

More than 3000 people have staged a sit-in at Azad Pattan Bridge when they were stopped by heavy deployment of Security forces. The Marchers are determined to march towards Islamabad and protest in front of Pakistani Parliament to oppose Pakistan’s mal-intentions to annex Gilgit-Baltistan as her defacto province in disguise of Gilgit Baltistan Empowerment and self rule ordinance 2009. It’s already getting very cold and Marchers are facing deep troubles. They are there without any food and water and without proper protection from cold weather conditions. Meanwhile Pakistani electronic and print media is showing biased attitude and not giving any proper coverage to this march even they were informed times and again. (Media Cell)

Awami National Conference exoresses solidarity with Gilgit baltistan

Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference held a protest demonstration at press enclave Srinagar to express solidarity with the people of Gilgit Baltistan and the people of Jammu and Kashmir who are protesting today against annexation of Gilgit Baltistan by the Pakistan Government. Speaking with media persons, General Secretary ANC Mr. A.R.Badhana said the these measures can weaken the kashmir cause in the long run, when we all are trying to get united for the resolution of the Kashmir issue. He demanded that the Pakistan Government cancel the executive order that divides Gilgit Baltistan from the State of Jammu and Kashmir. He further said that the entire State of Jammu and Kashmir across the line of control is one and no body has any moral or legal right to fragment it and ANC condemns it in strongest terms and reiterates its solidarity with the people of Gilgit Baltistan. A large number of ANC workers accompanied Mr. Badhana in the protest alongwith Vice President Mr. Amanullah Kant, Mr. M.F.Budhoo, mr. B.A.Malik, Mr. G.A.Dar,Mr. Miraj Siraj, Mr. Tayeb Dev, Mr. Khalid Tufail, Mr. Tauseef Shah and others.

LATEST news on the JKLF March towards Islamabad

Latest: PAK-PATTAN Bridge Already crossed by thousand of supporters

The rally’s and convoys from all over the AJK started towards Islamabad to protest Updated against Pakistan’s recent move to give province like status to Gilgit-Baltistan. They have been stopped at Pak-Patan (Border of Azad Kashmir and Pakistan) and police have put hurdles on the roads and are not allowing people to march towards Islamabad. JKLF activists are determined to move towards Islamabad where hundreds of JKLF activists and other Kashmiri people are waiting for them. They have crossed 6 hurdles so far.

The people in the march which numbered from 18000 to 20000 will keep on marching whole night in order for them to reach to Islamabad.

Gilgit
There was also a demonstration held in Gilgit and a protest note was given to UN Office. Protest was led by JKLF Gilgit-Baltistan zone president Zia-ul-Haq.

Srinagar
Protests were also held in parts Indian Held Kashmir. The main rally was held in Srinagar in which activists led by Senior Vice chairman SM Afzal and Zonal President Abdul Qadir Rathar appeared at Press Colony, Lal Chowk on Thursday morning and staged demonstrations to protest the autonomy to Gilgit-Baltistan by the Pakistan government.

Long March Heading towards Islamabad

The long march of JKLF towards Pakistan;s Islamabad Capital has reached to Pak Patan. About 450 Buses, personal cars of people, Vans and motor cycles full of JKLF activists and freedom loving people are stranded there and police have put lot of hurdles in the way.

Rawalpindi prss club and its surrounding areas are also packed with Kashmiri people waiting for the Long March Qafla from Azad Kashmir to join them.

Demonstration in Srinagar against Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan Package

A demonstration was organised by Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) in Srinagar today on Thursday 5th November 2009 against the Pakistan’s recent attempt to make Gilgit-Baltistan its fifth province. A huge gathering of JKLF activists who took part in the protest were holding playcards and shouted slogans of “Division of Kashmir Unacceptable”, “Jammu Kashmir Meri Jaan Ladakh Gilgit-Baltistan”, “Accession, Self-Rule, Autonomy meaningless, Independent Kashmir only acceptable” “Remove all restrictions on Amanullah Khan” and “Release JKLF senior leader Zahoor Butt from prison”.

Senior Vice chairman of JKLF in Srinagar SM Afzal, Zonal President Abdul Qadir Rathar, General Secretary Rasheed-ul-Hassan and Publicity Secretary Andleeb Kashmiri were leading the protest.

Speaking to media on this occasion, SM Afzal said that Kashmiris all over the world are holding demonstrations against Pakistan’s decision to give Gilgit-Baltistan a province like status. He said that a huge Long March and dharna will be held today in Parliament House, Islamabad in which thousand of people from all across Azad Kashmir and Pakistan will try to reach to Islamabad, Pakistan. He further said that the purpose of these demonstrations is to remind India and Pakistan that any part of Kashmir (Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Jammu, Kashmir) is neither their Jagular vein nor Integral part. He said that Kashmir belongs to Kashmiris and any attempt by either country will be resisted by Kashmiri people.

JKLF Leader also appealed to people of Pakistan to stop their government for taking such decisions which are big hurdles in our movement for right of self-determination. SM Afzal also thanked Kashmiris all around the world for participating in demonstrations on the call given by JKLF supreme head Amanullah Khan.
