Kashmiri Leaders arrested and banished from Gilgit

Below is an article published by Gilgit Baltistan United Movement :
The puppet provincial like government of Gilgit-Baltistan is afraid of the freedom movement of Gilgit-Baltistan. The banishment of nationalist’s leadership from Gilgit is a condemnable and shameful act of the new born government of Gilgit-Baltistan. This was sated by Manzoor Hussain Parwana chairman Gilgit Baltistan United Movement addressing a press conference in Skardu.

The violation of basic rights of the people has become order of the day. The live example of the lawlessness in the region is to expel the son of soils from their hometowns.

He explained that at least 11 nationalists were throw our by forced for three months from Gilgit-Baltistan in a bid to prevent a public gathering they were planning to hold in the region.

The Gilgit Baltistan Democratic Alliance (GBDA) had planned to hold a public meeting in Garhi Bagh, Gilgit, to condemn the ‘Karachi Agreement’ of April 28, 1949, under which the administrative control of Gilgit-Baltistan was handed over to the government of Pakistan. He Said.

The police raided hotels in Gilgit and took into custody nationalist leaders and activists belonging to AJK, whereas the rest were picked up from their residences in the town. The nationalist’s leader Shafqat Inqalabi was arrested from Gilgit and sent out for three months. He said Manzoor Parwana urged international community to take notice the rights violation in Gilgit Baltistan and used influence to release Shafqat Inqalabi.

JKLF condemned the Baton Charge of Students and their arrest in Muzaffarabad, Kashmir

London (April 01, 2010) Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front –JKLF- has strongly condemned the heavy baton charge of Students Liberation Front leadership and their subsequent arrest in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday 30th March 2010, Kashmir at the hands of Pakistan's forces during a peaceful demonstration in Muzaffarabad.

JKSLF top leadership including Chairman Raja Ghulam Mujtaba, Senior JKLF leaders Raja Mazhar Iqbal, Joint Secretary JKLF Zahid Habib Sheikk and others have been severely injured by Pakistani police in Muzaffarabad and subsequently been arrested after they were severely beaten up by Pakistani police during a demonstration in Muzaffarabad. Earlier hundreds of JKSLF activists had gathered in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday morning and the police objected to the holding of peaceful demonstration organised by Students Liberation Front to march towards the Assembly.

In a statement issued from London, Head of the JKLF Diplomatic Committee Prof. Zafar Khan and President of JKLF UK Zone Haji Rauf Khan has said that such indiscriminate baton charge on peaceful demonstrations will not weaken the Kashmiri people resolve for an Independent state. They further said that such oppressive and cruel measures will not dampen the struggle for right to self determination and national dignity of Kashmiris.

Returned from PaK after 18 years
Kupwara, Mar 31: The younger brother of martyr Muhammad Maqbool Bhat was still under detention despite High Court order which quashed his Public Safety Act and granted him bail.
Zahoor Ahmed Bhat, who has been detained at Trehgam police station for days, returned back to valley on February 11 last year on eve of 24th death anniversary of his brother, who was hanged in Tihar.
Police arrested him from his residence at Trehgam.
Zahoor’s family told Greater Kashmir that he has been languishing in police custody without any charge.
“Let them tell us what charges have been framed against our uncle? He has been illegally confined,” said Zahoor’s nephew Parvaiz Ahmed.
Zahoor returned with his wife Aminah and four children Midhat, Noful, Zonoon and Abdullah to Kashmir after 18 years stay in PaK.
His family said that he has been lodged in various jails in the state for past 14 months.
“He was imprisoned and interrogated at Cargo, JIC Humhama for more than a month,” they said, adding PSA was slapped against him on April 21, 2009.
“After the PSA, he was imprisoned at Kotbalwal Jammu where he was confined for nearly 10 months,” they added.
His mother, Shamali Begum, said Zahoor’s PSA was quashed by the High Court on January 25, this year.
“He was released from Kotabalwal jail on February 1 after court order. Before we could receive him, cops whisked him away at the gate. After that he was imprisoned in Jammu for 14 days and was then sent to Kupwara where he is lodged in Trehgam jail without charges,” she said.
According to the family, they approached the civil administration and police in Kupwara but none from the government was cooperating on his release.
Zahoor crossed line of control in 2000.
